Government-supplier readiness is a chain
Start with a valid business identity and accurate records. Then make sure tax, supplier and ownership information can be verified.
Step 1: CIPC and company records
Keep registration, directors, beneficial ownership and annual returns current.
Step 2: SARS and Tax Compliance Status
Outstanding returns or debt can affect compliance status. SARS uses Tax Compliance Status/PIN processes for verification.
Step 3: CSD registration
CSD requires supplier identification, contacts, address, tax, directors/members, industry classification, commodities, notifications and B-BBEE information. Successful registration produces a supplier number and 36-digit unique registration reference.
Step 4: B-BBEE evidence
B-BBEE Commission guidance classifies startups and EMEs and explains when sworn affidavits or verification are used. Requirements can differ by sector and tender value.
Step 5: Opportunity-specific documents
Each RFQ/tender can require additional technical, pricing, experience, accreditation, insurance or local-content documents. Read the bid itself.
Step 6: Maintain readiness
Do not wait for an opportunity to discover that CIPC, SARS or supplier data is stale.
